Complementing Marcus Wendel's Museums & Memorials page on his Third Reich Factbook website is Mikael Olrog's Preserved Axis Aircraft Throughout the World website.
Where the museums and memorials page looks at these facilities country by country, noting the aircraft in each museum or memorial, Mikael's website organizes by type of aircraft, engine, or missile, noting at which museums or other facility these are located at.
The address for Mikael's website is: http://www.axisaircraft.com

Peter Evans' Luftwaffe Experten Mailing List website has a Worldwide Captive Luftwaffe webpage listing, by aircraft type, Luftwaffe aircraft in museums or other facilities around the world. In this regard, the listing is very similar to that provided in Mikael Olrog's Preserved Axis Aircraft Throughout the World website. The URL for the Worldwide Captive Luftwaffe webpage is:

Jon Gant claims for his Messerschmitt Bf 109 website that it is the most authoritative site on the Bf 109. Having now reviewed it, I believe he certainly is in competition for that title. His site address is:
http://www.bf109.com/frameset.html
The sections of the site are as follows:
Site Articles
Messerschmitt Bf 109: The Beginning - Very short article with 2 color drawings and a b&w side view drawing.
Bf 109 Armament, by Tony Williams - Discusses the various armaments used by the Bf 109. A link labelled "armament" at the bottom of the article leads to significantly more information.
Hans Dittes 'Black 2' - Includes 3 color photos.
Preservation of Leather Artifacts: US Air Force Museum
Bf 109 Replica Project - Jon's ambition to build a replica. A link to an article on the Dakota Bf 109 replica tells the story of this interesting project, along with several color photos.
Meeting Franz Stigler, by Markus and Ryan Muntener - Short interview with 1 color and 2 b&w photos.
Bf109 Variant Evolution Information - Production numbers and list of variants with short description of what was unique about each one. Includes photos and drawings of some of the variants.
Messerschmitt Bf 109 Foreign Variations - Useage by Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechoslovakia, and Spain. Some tabular data.
Performance Statistics of the Bf 109 - Technical and performance information for the Bf 109V1, V3, B-2, E-4, F-3, G-6, and K-4. Five b&w photos.
Engine Construction Information - Technical information on the DB 600, DB 601, and DB 605. One b&w drawing, 1 color photo. Link to article on DB 601 and DB 605 with technical information, b&w drawing, and cutaway line drawing.
Armament Information - Table and description of armament used, color photo of amunition, table by variant indicating armament used along with history of useage, and two phantom drawings of amunition.
Pilots Manuals - Acrobat downloadable manuals for the Bf 109E, G-2, and K-4, along with English translations of the G-2 and K-4 manuals.

Our museum is located close to Amsterdam, we have a lot of parts of crashed fighters/bombers (German, American, RAF and Soviet). We are a non-profit organisation and we also do a lot of research concerning missing pilots. Have a look at our site! http://home.hetnet.nl/~arg1940-1945
(This is a Dutch language site. The site has moved from the address noted above. The address I finally landed on for the site is:
http://www.arg1940-1945.nl/pages/inhoudsopgave.htm
Besides the museum, there is reference to a recovered Bf 110 at Abbenes with color profile and operational data. Another aircraft, a Bf 109, is noted at Heemskirk, but no further info is given.

Richard)

Although Vriezenveen is almost in my backyard, I unfortunately had no time to check on the recovery of this a/c. Until further evidence I presume this is the Fw 190 of Ofhr. Hans-Georg Baur-Bargehr of 14./JG 54. Ofhr. Baur-Bargehr baled out and was slightly injured. No Werknummer is known of his Focke Wulf lost on 21st September. Ofhr. Baur-Bargehr flew as Kettenführer of Uffz. Richard Guse (still missing on 21.9.44, crashsite unknown) and Fw. Josef Jost (shot down on 21st September and died of wounds on 23.9.1944). Ofhr. Baur-Bargehr was later killed on 27.12.1944.

The Virtual Aviation Museum website's strength is in its listing of aviation museums in Europe. While there is the occasional photo and minimal technical and historical detail, these are not the site's strengths. The address of the site is:
http://www.luftfahrtmuseum.com/htmi/general/i.htm
Sections of Luftwaffe interest:
<U>Aircraft types</U>
Listed by name, designer, and category, a broad, but light depth coverage is made of much of the world's aircraft output.
<U>References</U>
Currently, there is only a listing of magazines worldwide. The intent is to add sections on famous aviators and a dictionary of aviation terms.

“Junkers über alles in Belgium
THE LATEST EXHIBIT to join the the Brussels Air Museum section, an ex?Portuguese Air Force Junkers Ju 52, went on display, mounted 20ft above the museum floor, at the impressive Parc du Cinquantenaire building on November 5, following the completion of its restoration by Museum staff at the Belgian Air Force Base Brustem. The Junkers, which was delivered to the Portuguese Air Force with the serial 6309 in 1937 arrived in Belgium from Portuguese Air Force Museum storage yard at Alverca in April 1985. A rebuild Io flying condition was initiated by the Sabena Old Timers organisation
(which has since become best known for the operation of Westland Lysander 00?SOT), but in the late 1990s plans for the machine were changed, and the Junkers was transferred to the Air Museum team for static restoration, Following completion in early 2001, several colour schemes were under consideration for the Junkers, with both Belgian Air Force and Sabena markings coming under discussion before a standard Junkers factory finish was adopted….”
