There exist not only a german fighter association. By the Deutschen Luftwaffen Ring e.V. is published the Luftwaffe Revue quaterly a year. There you can find (only ibn German)the addresses of all former Luftwaffen bomber, transport and other units f.e. KG 1 'Hindenburg', KG 53, 54, 55.
Many articles related not only with fighter pilots expiriences and by my oppinion worth to buy it.
The Luftwaffen Revue costs 30 Deutsch marks a year in Germany. You can order it under Deutscher Luftwaffenring e.V.Bonn, Geschaeftsstelle Rheinalle 55 53173 Bonn phone +49228361007.

Alex

Alexander: I posted recently a notice on the forum re Robert Zehbe of 1/KG 76 based in Beauvais. Zehbe's bomber was shot down over central London on 15 Sept 1940. Zehbe was captured wounded, but died the next day. Do you have any information on Zehbe, or where I may find out, from former comrades or units?
My mother saw Zehbe land by parachute,. She was merely a few metres from him.
Thank you
Martin

Dear Alex,
Many thanks. I shall write to them.
By the way, the German Embassy in London is kindly writing to an address in Kiel where we think a member of Zehbe's family (his daughter?) still lives. In your experience, do you think that the family might respond?
Thanks again,
Martin

Dear Martin,
I don't know if the relatives are intersted in the fate of Zehbe and would answer you
questions by letter.
But I would try to write a letter. So you can
say that this try was unsuccessful.
Regards and good luck.

Dear Alex,
You've been most kind. Thank you.
Yesterday I wrote to the KG 76 association. Maybe they'll be able to give me some information.
Are there any other ways of contacting relatives, assuming that the German Embassy is not successful? Perhaps some former comrades of Zehbe's are still alive who may be able to help.
Do you have any advice? (and once again many thanks for your patience).

Martin

Dear Martin,
no doupt about it. My oppinion is that to write to the German Embassy would be successful, cause they arn't related with
the history of the Luftwaffe.
But what's about the red cross? it could be possible that the german red cross (Deutsches Rote Kreuz)can help in this case. Unfortunally I havn' t any address.
As you see in my profile I am interested in
the history of the Junkers Ju 86. I know that this type wasn't in the first row of the bomber foups during the battle of Britain. But after the battle the Ju 86R had flown
serveral times as a hight attitude bomber
against english cities.
Do you some informations about the raids
of the Ju 86 against GB?
Thnaks in advance.

Alex

Alex,
Thanks for your messages. I didn't know about the BoB dogfight article that you described. What a pity it's in German. I don't think I would understand it.
As to your other message about the Ju 86s. I really don't much about their involvement in the BoB etc. If there is anything that you would like me to find out from the English archives, then I shall be happy to help. I am a frequent visitor to London.
As regards Robert Zehbe, I have written to the International Red Cross in Switzerland. News of deaths/capture were probably exchanged through them.
As regards my letter to KG 76, am I right to assume that the Dieter Lukesch address is in Germany?

Martin

Sorry Martin,
I forgot that I have to add the D- in front of the postal numbers and Germany for the country.
The Ju 86 started it's assault against Britain in 1942. Very late for BoB.
But the sqd. which was equiped with this aircraft was based in Bauvais!
Best regards,
Alex
