Hello,
in a Archive in Dülken I found the letters of Mrs.
Jakubasch, Mother of Uffz. Jakubasch. Uffz. Jaku-
basch was KIA 10.02.1945 ( together with his "Bord-
funker Gefr. Ziermann ). One letter discribed the
crash and stated, that the acft. was a Ju 87 with
Tailcode D3+HK.
Who knows more about the crash, who is able to con-
firm Typ and Tailcode of this aircraft ? Which unit ?
Where did it start ?
Kindest Regards
Volker Krappen

loss of NSGr. 2, my planned book

Hello Mr. Krappen,
since several years I´m researching the Störkampf- and Nachtschlachtgruppen and plan to publish a book on that topic.
Concerning Uffz. Jakubasch (pilot) & Ogefr. Ziermann (radio-operator):
Both belonged to 2./NSGr. 2. This Staffel was re-arranged in January 1945 and saw action on the front not before end of January/beginning of February 1945. So, most of the young and inexperienced crews had their first combat missions during these days.
The group was ordered to attack enemy supply and artillery positions near Kleve- Groesbeek - Nijmegen between 22.20 and 2.30 during night 09 to 10 February 1945.
As the weather was very bad and the crews of 2. Staffel had been rather inexperienced, an experienced pilot of 1. Staffel was asked to tell his opinion. He advised the CO not to fly. Despite that the CO ordered the crews to fly. The result was terrible: 2. Staffel lost 6 planes (the group lost a total of 10 planes).
The reason was simple: bad weather, inexperienced crews, the Ju 87 had no blind flying equipment...
The loss-report says:
Day: 10.02.1945, 2. Staffel, take-off from Köln-Wahn, crash near Dülken/Rheinland at 1.30 Uhr, cause: vom Feindflug nicht zurückgekehrt, crash with Junkers Ju 87 D-5, Werknummer 132356, code: D3+HK, plane 100% destroyed, pilot Uffz. Karl Jakubasch, MIA (dead), radio-operator Ogefr. Karl Ziermann, MIA (dead).
If you have further questions or information for my planned book, please don´t hesitate to contact me (also other readers).
Best regards,
