Gentlemen,
I am looking for information on Oblt Albin Meyer (p) and Fw Klaus Morgenrother (Bf)of 5./ZG76.
They were both wounded over Blankenburg on January 11, 1944 while flying a ME410A-1, roughly 30 miles SW of their base at Hildesheim. Meyer was StKap.
The ME410 had werkenummer 420197. It was damaged. It did NOT crash. I wonder what happened to the a/c afterwards.
This a/c was POSSIBLY damaged by a a waistgunner of the 100th BG.
ANY information would be most welcome.
Thank you,
Stevin

Hello Stevin-I was together with Alwin in Lufthansa (he was 747-Cpt)-we never talked about war-but I remember he was in ZG 76-he died a few years ago-maybe his BF Klaus Morgenrother is still alive-you could write to the "Jägerblatt" Willi Göbel Fax 02247-300398- he is always publishing a large searching-list-regards Peter Spoden-

Dear Mr. Spoden,
Thank you once again for your help! I had no information on him whatsoever, so it is good to know he survived the war and flew for Lufthansa after the war. I am sorry to hear he passed away. I will definately try Herr Gobel!
Thanks again.

Hi all...
I'm trying to determin the fate of a Luftwaffe pilot held by the Canadians during WW2 for an article I'm writing on Bf109E-4/N "White 4" of JG26 recently restored by the Aircraft Restoration Company on behalf of the Imperial War Museum, and would dearly like to learn the fate of the pilot or make contact with any surviving relatives...
Uffz. Horst Perez was serving with 4/JG26 when after crash landing his Bf109E-4/N in Southern England and was taken POW. At some point thereafter he was transferred to Canada where it appears he remained as a POW until the end of the war.
Photographic evidence survives of Perez along with a group of non-commissioned JG26 pilots taken at either Medicine Hat (Lager 132) or the camp in Lethbridge (Lager 133). Thanks to David Carter for this info! This picture was published on page 65 of "JG26, Photographic History of the Luftwaffes Top Guns" by Don Caldwell. Having discussed JG26 activities and personnel with Don he too cannot find any information as to the fate of Perez despite the widely held belief that he survived the war.
This is where I need more help. I've written to the appropriate Canadian authorities and
have yet to get a response. Therefore, would you be able to help with more information
as to the fate of Horst Perez? Any pointers or assistance would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks in advance for any help and assistance in this matter...

Try tracing him through the Gemeinschaft der Jagdflieger (GdJ). Their website address is: www.fliegergemeinschaft.de (http://www.fliegergemeinschaft.de) . You can post a request there and they should put it in their magazine. Worth a try. Each JG has a reference person, and the GdJ could possibly put you in touch with them to see if they can help.
Hope this helps.

Finding Luftwaffe Pilots living

Does anyone know where I can locate living WWII Luftwaffe pilots? Are there associations or something? I won't be able to travel to Germany, unfortunately, but I would write or call. Thanks.

This is the web site of the Gemeinschaft der Jagdflieger in Germany. Maybe a good place to start.
If you need the contacts for a book (or something like that) your planning to write, it's also smart to ask some members on this board who have experience in establishing contacts with LW veterans. Don't just go writing to some name with an address unless you're absolutely sure it is appreciated.
Just some word of advice.

A good discussion on locating Luftwaffe personnel records, including using the resources of the German Fighter Pilots Association to locate the families of former Luftwaffe personnel, can be found in the topic "Useful info on obtaining Luftwaffe personnel information - Collin Fuller, et al" on the "Research Guidelines" forum.

Post-war veterans associations?
Wed Feb 5 01:03:11 2003
24.60.71.18
Was it automatic that all veterans of the various German armed forces joined the post-war Associations that grew out of the conflict? Out of either pride or help / support?
Would they also have been used to help with employment and / or education?
I have heard the Waffen SS, and the Luftwaffe having these groups, but did any other? Heer or Naval forces?
What were their official names?
Fighter Pilots Association?
Luftwaffe Pilots Association?
Many thanks!

I don't know about V.A for the Wehrmacht or Kriegs Marine (but maybe you can find something at http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com)
The Luftwaffe's veterans association is called
Gemeinschaft der Jagdflieger
or
Vereinigung der Flieger Deutscher Streitkräfte
or in English
Association of Fighter Pilots
or
Association of the German Armed Forces Aviators
Their website states that it started as "an attempt to develop a social network for the support of any wingman in need". Check http://www.fliegergemeinschaft.de/

Hello!
Just a precision (which has no real link with your message...).
The Wehrmacht was the whole german army. It was composed of the Luftwaffe (air force), the Kriegsmarine (navy), and the Heer (army). The mistake is really often done to consider that the Wehrmacht was only the army.
Don't know wether it can help!

Information about a relative

Hello,
Ive got a relative who was in the Luftwaffe in WWII.
He joined the Luftwaffe in the late 20th and was with Legion Condor in Spain. In the beginning WWII he must have been Stuka Fighter may be as Commodore or such rank.
He changed to the RLM later. After the war he joined the Bundeswehr Luftwaffe and was in the early 60's General, based on Butzweilerhof / Cologene. His Name was Arthur Paul.
Who has something about this guy, or has some idea where to search for informations
cu Ulli

Hello Ged,
In your answer, dated July 15, on this board, to Dirk Schulz, you gave information concerning the German organisation who has the magazine "Jagerblatt" ...tel, fax, but you didn't note its e-mail address.
I would like to get in touch with this German organisation ; so, could you give me its e-mail address or the e-mail address of its President.
Thank you very much in advance.
