Thanks Sergio !
These are only a few pictures out of a series of pictures from the period 1914 - 1918 I discoverd in the archive of Siemens Transformer Works in Nueremberg.
Some autopiltot pictures will follow today or tomorrow . Crazy to imagine, that some 60,000 autopilots/Kursssteuerungen haven been built by Siemens LGW during WWII for Deutsche Luftwaffe....

Hi Volker,
Could you list all the a/c types that autopilots from the Siemens LGW factory were produced for. What was/is the location of the factory and what was its name during WWII.

Dear Andy,
a table showing all autopilot-systems and variants in detail will be published in our book "Siemens in der Luftfahrt", publishing house of Bernard&Graefe, approx avaliable in 2004.
A very brief information about major types including pictural P&I diagramms will be presented next week on our homepage.
http://www.uni-erlangen.de/docs/FAU/fakultaet/natIII/geol_appl/museum1.htm
A short summary I will e-mail to you.
The autopilot-system have been developed and manufactored under 3 different names over a period of 15 years. Very first development activies have been made unter Cooperation Siemens-Gelap (Gelap = Gesellschaft für elektrische Apparate; a design and testing organisation vor the secret rearming of germany) .
First serial production of K4 and DIII systems was made by SAM (Siemens Apparate und Maschinenbau GmbH) in Berlin. Later extendet SAM aviation activities have been focused at Siemens-LGW ( LGW = Luftfahrtgerätewerk Hakenfeld, Berlin-Spandau)and serveral fabrication places in the german empire.
