Bonsoir .
I don’t understand a map ( page 12 ) in the very good book of Eric Mombeek « Jagdwaffe, battle of britain phase one » (Classic Publications). In this map – luftwaffe Fighter Disposition during the BoB in Normandy, Brittany and Channel Islands – we can see a plane which represent a staffel of the JG2 based in Granville (Normandy).
I don’t think it’s ok (I think it’s Cherbourg, and not Granville), so if someone have an idea on the subject…
Thanks
Fred

Fred -

There were a total of 3 airfields on the Cotentin Peninsula:
Cherbourg-Theville (a.k.a. Cherbourg-Maupertus)/12 km E of Cherbourg,
Cherbourg-West (a.k.a. Cherbourg-Querqueville),
Cherbourg-Chantereyne (a seaplane station).
The first of these was the one most used by Luftwaffe aircraft, mainly as a forward airfield for staging raids and for refueling.
