Check out my improved Fw 190 Site
Tue Jan 30 03:13:58 2001
Hi everyone,
I've recently finished updating my Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Site
http://www.geocities.com/bookie190/Index.htm
Check it out if you haven't had a look at it, there are plenty of new things to see, including some profiles by Neil Page (thank-you), some new photos (thanks to Franek and
Dave), headers looking nice (Dan!), plus plenty of information and some articles (including that "controversial" Afrika piece, which has been improved). Christer Bergstrom
has also contributed two articles about Eastern Front Fw 190s.
If you have any comments please post them, I'm interested to see what people think, especially with regards to how I can improve the site.
Cheers,
Andrew Arthy (Bookie)

Just a suggestion -- make the photos bigger! That 'Kosse' 190 would probably be of major interest to all here, but its so bloody small its useless.
BTW, the JG 2 bird on your title page is that of Horst Hannig.

Looks a lot better then the ugly red background you had at first!!
Btw, the source for the Turkish Fw 190 Aa-3 picture is my scanner!! :-)
No seriously, it comes from Monogram's German Aircraft Cockpit Interiors 1935-1945 Pt.1 by Kenneth A. Merrick.

Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd let you know that my Focke-Wulf FW 190 site http://www.geocities.com/bookie190/Index.htm
has been totally updated with new photos, colour profiles, and a new article. The profiles - by Dan Taylor - are very good, and include two Ta 152H-1s and an FW 190A-8.
Any comments on the site would be appreciated.
PS - If anyone out there has FW 190 photos, articles or artwork they would like to contribute to make the site more comprehensive, it would be really appreciated!

Focke-Wulf FW 190 / Ta 152 Werk Nummer Project
Sat Jul 7 13:19:16 2001
Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd let you know of a new addition to my FW 190 / Ta 152 site.
I've put together a listing of all FW 190 and Ta 152 Werk Nummer blocks, along with manufacturer details. Visit the listing at:

When I find the time I will add to it, making it more detailed. As always, corrections and additions are most welcome.

upgrade..?
Sun Jul 8 08:16:17 2001
Are you considering a listing of FW-190s by Wrk N, along the lines of the Stormbirds.com Me-262 listing? I realize that there are 10 times as many FW-190s, but I was curious if you had considered it. Someone should!

Upgrade?
Sun Jul 8 13:06:34 2001
Hi Gordon,
I had been considering a listing of all FW 190 Werk Nummern, however some people (quite rightly) advised me I should start small and work my way up. Obviously my eventual aim is a listing of all FW 190's, but 20000+ aircraft could take quite some time, time I don't always have!
You are right that someone should do an FW 190 listing, and perhaps in a few years (or decades :-) I might be that person.

Andrew A.

Fw 190 W/Nrs & Stkz
Sun Jul 8 20:02:20 2001
Hi Andrew
Quite an undertaking!!!
Have you also considered the possabilty of including the factory Stammkennzeichen alongside the W/Nr sequences.
There are a lot of researchers who would welcome this additional input.
It is a pity that the Me 262 Stormbird site does not include this; perhaps this might be recified for the future.
If there is anybody else who would like to contribute Stkz details of the Fw 190 then perhaps the ball could be set in motion!
Kind regards
Tom

a proposal.... (consider it!)
Mon Jul 9 00:52:07 2001
If everyone that had FIRST HAND documentation (books are great, but all of them have embedded mistakes!) such as combat reports, factory documents, etc. were to assemble the mentioned codes and serials in a set format, send them to Andy along with a brief mention as to source, location, unit, etc., I think he could be hand-fed a significant amount of FW-190 info.
Then, he could digest it at his leisure, and append his list as he receives updates from us. The Stormbirds.com Wrk N. list would probably be a good template -- essentially, your FW-190 list could start out with a couple well motivated "Experts" to help you make changes because I think a lot of people would be sending you data.
The basic format would have to be searchable or it is useless. Talk to the Stormbirds folks and borrow from their learning curve, but DO THIS! Each time a project like this begins, the end result is that missing, scattered history is recovered from the abyss. Its a worthy undertaking and I promise you that a lot of folks would help.
v/r
Gordon
PS, I am serious about the "no book for a source" requirement - if you just use first-hand documentation, you will still have enough work to last decades, and your work will be superior for it!

FW 190 Werk Nummer Project
Mon Jul 9 13:59:33 2001
Hi Gordon and Tom,
Thanks for the responses. Gordon's proposal is a good one, but there might be some problems with it. An appeal for people to hand over their research (which cost both time and money) would not be particularly attractive for most Luftwaffe researchers. While I will certainly appreciate any help I can get, I understand that people don't want to part with their information.
A complete or near-complete FW 190 listing would be of immense value, and I would love to be the person to put it together, but are people willing to hand over their data, even if it benefits all the Luftwaffe research community?
Just some thoughts...
Andrew A.
BTW - a big thank-you to the guys who have helped me so far, Dave and Dennis.

I think that the people who did the time and research on their own would welcome the opportunity to help get a complete listing together. As long as they are listed as a source and not just giving over information and then cast aside.
In order to have this project come to completion you should at least throw out the request to have people submit information to you where you are like an archive. This way people can search it at their leisure and most likely some other person looking for information on specific blocks of numbers might find what they need via someone elses submission of information. Just my thought m8.

New article on FW 190s with 1./SAGr.128 and 10./ZG 1
Tue Aug 7 09:35:42 2001
Hi everyone,
I've just finished an article on a virtually unknown Focke-Wulf FW 190 unit, 5./Bordfliegergruppe 196 (also known as Jagdkdo Brest, 10./ZG 1, 1./SAGr.128 etc). Find the article here.
http://www.geocities.com/bookie190/ZG1.doc
Along with the story, there are victory and loss lists.
Thanks to Chris Goss and Nick Beale for help with this article.
Hope it is of interest.

New article dealing with 17.04.45 attack on S.G.77

Hi,
Just to let you all know of a new article posted on my Focke-Wulf FW 190 / Ta 152 site.
It deals with the Allied fighter attack on Kamenz airfield, home of S.G.77, on 17 April 1945. This was the day on which RK-träger August Lambert was killed (along with a number of his fellow pilots).
Click http://www.geocities.com/andos190/Kamenz.htm to go to the article.
If anyone can add to this story, let me know.
PS - Hopefully this is the first of many updates to my site this year! I've got a few articles planned and plenty of new photos. Thanks to Dave Wadman for his help.
Cheers,

Why do some late war birds (190s, Me 109s, Me 108s) have the yellow theater band that is usually on the rear 1/3 of the fuselage at the front of the nose?
Does this still signify "eastern front"?

I recommend this site: www.geocities.com/bookie190/Index.htm
By clicking on Sources, you will find a list of books. I recommend Focke Wulf Jagdflugzeug 190- Fw 190 A, Fw 190 "Dora," Ta 152 H by Peter Rodeike. Hundreds of previously unpublished photos.
Also this site for walk around of actual aircraft, in English. www.dora9.de/ (that's it). Click on Site News for the latest.

Hello everyone,
Just to let you know that I plan a major update to my site over the next two months. I've already updated 30 pages, and am working on some new articles, as well as correcting the older ones.
Thanks to the efforts of Brett Green (and Lynn), I am able to move the site away from Geocities, ensuring there are no more pop-ups etc.
If anyone can help with information on FW 190s, has ideas for an article, can contribute photos or artwork, etc., I would like to hear from you. Please contact me at bookie190@hotmail.com if you can help.
Cheers,

Bookie's Focke-Wulf 190 / Ta 152 site has been completely updated, and has moved to its new home, http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/Index.html.
There are a number of new articles, and all the old ones have been corrected. The Werk Nummer project has been updated, and I've created new pages listing all FW 190 A-0s, A-1s, A-2s, some A-3s, and some A-9s.
There are now 20 colour profiles, along with a lot of new photographs.
Thanks to Brett Green for organising the new web space, and thanks to everyone who has helped me over the last two years.
If anyone has comments, corrections, or contributions, please email me.
Cheers,
Andrew A.
