Just as an FYI, the loss data as recorded by the LW prior to late-August 1940 very seldom includes such details. As a matter of fact the earlier one goes in the General Quartermaster data, the less likely one is to even get a name. I've not seen casualty reports from this early so I can't comment on them other than to say that I've seldom seen such details given in any publication except through photos, logbooks entries, the occasional intel report or a smattering of other different types of reports - such as a police report someone sent me ages ago of a crashed 110. Some units may have on occasion reported such data, but by and large nada.

Are the informations about the Luftwaffe missions on May 10th 1940, concerning the transport of special kind of infantry ("Infanterieluftlandetruppe") towards the area of Rotterdam with JU 52. Special Units f.e.: Kampfgruppe z.b.V. 12 (Obstlt. Gustav Wilke).
Where could be other sources?

Heinrich Wefers
Mon Nov 19 20:20:27 2001

A little while ago, I was given the propeller blade of a Me109. I did some research and found out that it must have belonged to a Me109 flown by Heinrich Wefers who was part of IV/JG54. He was shot down over Gistel on 18 may 1943 by Duane Beeson flying a Thunderbolt. I am now in the process of building a 1/48 scale model of Heinrich's fighter.
Where was the Kampfgruppe stationed during 1943, what color schemes did the fighters have and where can I find the correct decals

Which Wefers?
Thu Nov 22 03:21:42 2001

OK, Heinrich Wefers was a DK winner with JG 54 with some 52 vics. I've got a January 1945 KIA for this guy via Gunther Rosipal's JG 54 loss data and, now, a 1943 KIA, listed in loss data as Heinz Wefes. Can anyone give a definitive answer as to the correct fate of this pilot??

The one I'm interested in is oberfeldwebel Heinrich Wefers, born 14.04.1919, KIA on 18.05.1943 being shot down over Gistel, Belgium by Lt Duane W. Beeson flying a Thunderbolt.
In my opinion, the 'Heinrich Wefes' in the casualty list is not correctly spelled.
Nevertheless, I'm still waiting for more information since I wrote some letters to the Luftwaffenmuseum and the Wehrmacht Auskunftstelle in Berlin, the Militärgeschichtliches Forschungsamt in Potsdam and the Gemeinschaft der Jagdflieger in Lohmar.
For what it's worth, the neighbour of my mother-in-law was an eye-witness to the crash.

Fate of Ofw. Heinrich Wefers
Wed Nov 28 10:44:28 2001

According to "Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgraeberfuersorge" (www.volksbund.de) Ofw. Heinrich Wefers, KIA 18.5.1943, is burried at war cemetery in Lommel, Belgium (Block 61, Grave 463). Although not a completely definite answer, this seems to support Don Caldwell´s version.
