Sorry if I've selected the wrong forum for this but I wonder if anyone can help. Whilst digging i my garden I discovered part of an incendiary bomb. On checking with my local history group it appears a JU88 crashed in (practicaly) my back garden in 1940 and the bomb may have been part of its payload. I have a date and a cause (AA)for the crash and believe that one of the crew bailed out and was captured. How can I find out anything more about this? Were interogation reports kept of POWs and if so is it possible to track these down given the limited info I have? Is it possible to establish the unit the plane was from and the identity of the crew from German and / or British records? Is it possible to find where the crew who were killed are buried? Forgive me if this is all a bit ameturish but I would be grateful for any help.

Hi you should be able to get records in Britain.Start by looking in the local newspaper archives. Also ask older local people and go down to your local British Legion and talk to some of the members as they are great for local stories. and if I were you I would get myself a metal detector and go look for some more pieces therer are bound to be more.

I will post some addresses here for you tommorrow to let you know who can help you.

but remember its a hard subject to research its not easy.
