Hello,

I'm looking for the units that were based at Rely (= Norrent-Fontes) airfield, between Bethune and St Omer in northern France.

Many local people say the planes were Stukas, but I never found to which units they belonged.

thanks in advance

Hughes

No Stuka units appear to have been permanently based at Norrent-Fontes/25 km SE of St-Pol, but that is not to say that a Staffel or a Gruppe did not temporarily use it for some brief period. However, the airfield does crop up in the documents and literature from time-to-time, so it was in use. Maybe you should go to the www.ww2.dk website and check out the base locations for the various units that took part in the Battle of Britain. Incidently, the airfield at Norrent-Fontes was run during the 1940-41 period by Fliegerhorstkommandantur (E) 18/VI, which was subordinated to Kommando Flughafenbereich 8/III at St-Omer.
