FW 200 loss on 20 August 1940.

Can anybody help with the Werk Nummer and model of the FW 200 F8 + KH that crashed on a mountainside near Cloghane in County Kerry, Ireland on 20 August 1940 ? The QM General Loss Returns do not include such details until a little later unfortunately. I do not have the Heinz Nowarra book on the FW 200 published in 1988. Are there any plans to reprint it ? Is anyone working on a new FW 200 publication or unit history of KG 40 ( less V Gruppe ) ? Regards. Martin Gleeson.

20 Aug 40 was too early for Wk Nrs to be included in the QMG's Returns; the only source would be a photo or a note made by local people

Thanks Chris, but unfortunately the crew did a thorough job in burning the Condor. The reports on the incident which still exist in Irish Military Archives do not record the markings.

Query on bomber losses, 15 July 1941
Sun Jul 25, 2004 00:21

Hallo all,
This week I came across reports in the Irish Military Archives of several Luftwaffe attacks on ships off Ireland which may have resulted in damage to or the loss of the aircraft involved. Looking for any help with these please.
On 15 July 1941 the SS 'Carrowdore' was slightly damaged by a single bomber at 03.30 am BST. The Captain believed it to be a Heinkel. The location was 15 miles East of the Bailey Lighthouse, Co. Dublin. The crew thought their return fire may have hit the aircraft in it's tail area.
I would like to identify the unit in question and to determine if the French-based anti-shipping units suffered any aircraft lost or damaged that day/night, and if so in what circumstances. Regret I do not have access to the QuarterMaster General's Loss Returns. Is there any record of specific attacks on ships that day or night ? Does the KG 27 unit history note anything ?
Any help will be much appreciated. Regards.
Martin Gleeson.

There are no losses in the Quartermaster General's loss list for 15.7.41 in this area.
KG27 was with the Luftflotte 4 at this date. If the attacking aircraft was He 111 the it is possible that it came from I./KG 28, 4./KG 40 or Stab Fliegerfürher Atlantik (III./KG 40 was re-training).
It is also possible that the plane was a Ju 88, if so it could have come from Kü.Fl.Gr. 606.
