Could anyone tell me where 1(H)/32 was based between 4/43-9/43 and what HQ it was sub-ordinated to (I believe it may have been based in Norway/Finland).
Regards

At Alakurtti, Kemijärvi and Petsamo (all in N Finland) operating under Fliegerführer Nord (Ost). The Staffel operated in 2 or 3 components (Ketten, Schwärme, Halb-Staffel)in support of the ground forces under Gen. Dietl's Gebirgs-Armeeoberkommando 20. The Staffel's Gefechtsstand was probably at Alakurtti, although this may have moved around somewhat, too.

Andreas -
I think the KTB for 1.(H)/32 is in RL 10 (Verbände der Fliegertruppe). RL 21 is for Fliegerhorstkommandanturen und Flugplatzkommandos, and RL 21/235 is the folder for FHK E 101/XI Tromsö, KTB Nr. 7 (4/42 - 7/42). I could be wrong, of course, but unless BA-MA has re-arranged and re-numbered things since I was there 12 years ago, the above is what was listed in BA-MA's Findbücher.
Regards,
Larry
(I wrote to Larry to learn more about the BA-MA's Findbücher that he mentioned in his message. Here is his response:
"Richard -
There are a hundred or more Findbücher. There is one for each major RH, RL and RM Signatur (record group) at BA-MA Freiburg. They have never been published to my knowledge. They appear as internal finding aids in manuscript format and are only available in the BA-MA Benützersaal (research room) in Freiburg. They are under (or were under) constant revision as additional records and documents were returned to Germany and ascensioned into BA-MA's holdings and catalogued.
Best,
Larry"
Thanks, Larry, for that explanation.
Regards,
Richard)

the point was that it exists.
You are probably right and I have been to fast when writing up the message.
I will check my notes and get back.

Hi Andreas,
Please excuse my ignorance but can you explain what the KTB is? I'm guessing it is the units operational history.

Andy

1.(H)/32 used Alakurtti in Finland as their main base during that period, even if they also had repair facilities in Kemijärvi, Finland. In addition, there was a Kette at Petsamo (Luostari) airfield - the Kette Petsamo, also named Kette Hauschild.
