From a briefing, given by a former Luftwaffe person in 1947, I have learned that he received his basic training, Ausbildung, at Épinoy near Cambrai. In "Die Flugzeugführer-Ausbildung der Deutschen Luftwaffe 1935-1945" Band I, from Carlsen and Meyer I could not find any Flieger Ausbildungsregiment based at Épinoy-Cambrai. Who could help me? Which unit was here responsable for the basic training for Luftwaffe personnel in 1942?

Jaap -The most likely candidate is Flieger-Rgt. 12, which transferred to France from Münster-Handorf in 1941 and was based in the Douai-Cambrai area during most of 1942. It was the only one of the Flieger-Regimente (formerly Lw. Ausbildungsregimente) based in that immediate area at that time. It departed there in fall 1942 for Bergen near Celle to be used in the formation of Luftwaffen-Felddivision 12.

Carlsen and Meyer mentioned the unit as placed at Douai in 1941/42. Umbenennung in JägerRgt.23(L) der 12.Lw.Felddivision auf dem Truppenplatz Bergen.
