I recently sent an email to the IWM to find out the extent of their Luftwaffe holdings. I recieved a reply a few weeks ago - here's a summary of what the archivist said:

Luftwaffe records at the IWM fall into the following categories:

1. Microfilms of selected operational records, including Luftwaffe KTBs (`8th Abteilung' documents, AHB6)

There is a 24-page listing of the AHB6 microfilms (has anyone got this listing?), and the microfilms, some of which are in bad condition, are rarely consulted. The original material for these microfilms can be found in the BA/MA.

2. Microfilms of Milch/RLM documents (`Jaegerstab' conferences, `Generalluftzeugmeister' conferences etc)

There is a partial catalogue of the Milch/RLM documents, put together by David Irving. Many of the originals are also at the BA/MA Freiburg.

3. USAAF Materiel Command microfilms of German aeronautical R & D documents

4. Aircraft manuals issued by the RLM.

As at most archives, the staff cannot do research, so you either have to travel there, or hire a researcher.

Anyway, hope that is of use.

Cheers,
Andrew Arthy

Dear Andrew,

Thanks for sharing that information with us. By coincidence, Steve Coates provided me a copy of the IWM's A.H.6.B list while I was researching at the PRO in early August.

Would this be of interest to have this posted on the LWAG site?

At the moment, LWAG is imminently about to change operating software to gain more space on our server. Until this happens, we are rather tight for space, so I wouldn't be able to post the list until then. Please let me know if anyone is interested.

Regards,
Richard
