Luftwaffe Memorial statue?

Is there a Luftwaffe memorial statue of an airman in uniform and wearing a leather flying helmet. He had feathered wings at right angles to his shoulders. I was told it was a Luftwaffe memorial.

Does someone know where this would be located?

Thanks!

Hello Dave,

though I have never seen it I can imagine that the statue in question is the Denkmal der Jagdflieger (fighter pilot memorial) at Geisenheim, Mainz/Frankfurt area.

Sirs: I'm doing some research. There is a memorial to downed Luftwaffe pilots somewhere in Germany. I would like some information on it especially the poem that's inscribed on it. Thank you. A.S.

Hello Mrs. Shapiro,

I only know the Fighter Pilots Memorial (Denkmal der Jagd-flieger) at Geisenheim in the Mainz/Frankfurt area. It shows two starting eagles on a stele (about 80 ft. high)which has been erected on a lawn next to the river Rhine. It does not bear a poem, but the inscription "To the dead fighter pilots" (Den toten Jagdfliegern). I have taken a photo of it recently and may serve with a copy in case you are interested.
