Loss " Errors "

Hello PK ,

as also common in other areas , also here are different kind of errors possible .
For the official german loss list ( GQM - list ) was stolen for 1944 out of the IWM , ther are no " complete " loss lists existing .
Most losses for 1944 are with personal losses , so if there was a belly landing or even if a pilot had to parachute , but remained unhurt , it could be , that there is no document existing , showing this loss . The same is valid for ac remaining damaged at the last airfield during retreat .
Nearly all files were run in handwriting by different people so it would wonder myself if having here no mistakes !
All the best , Bernd

I am aware that the Luftwaffe losses are stored at Freiburg in southern Germany, but does someone out there have their own copies on microfiche/photocopies etc of the losses from April 1943 to 26.10.44. The losses all pertain to Me 109s, 110s and Fw 190s fighting in France and Germany. Can anyone help or poiint me in the right direction, Many thanks,

I may have unearthed some loss documents for :

Luftflotte 2 : July to November 44 (included)
Luftflotte 3 : January to November 44 (included)
Luftflotte 5 : July to November 44 (included)
Luftflotte Reich : January to November 44 (included)
Luftwaffe Kmdo Sud Ost : July to November 44 (included)

Are those already known or is it some genuine discovery ?
I do not know the exact coverage of this documents yet, but i'll keep you updated once i know for sure.

Olivier, I would be interested in the Luftflotte Reich losses, is there any possibility of being able to view these somehow.

I know that they are supposed to be dozens (40~100+) of pages long each, so I do not think they are just summaries. Compared to the size of the usual loss listing the volume looks similar, so it might be it. Yet they seems to have been compiled at the Luftflotte level so they might be different documents.

But I'll have to wait until I got some copies before being 100% sure, it should not take long as I'm waiting for a few pages to arrive.

Jim I'll email you as soon as I get them.

Cheers,

Oliver -

If these are not the summarischen Verlustmeldungen that Dr. Jochen Prien has referred to and used in his books, then you have truly discovered the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I hope you will report to us exactly what these consist of after you receive the samples that are in-bound to you. We'd all like to know what they are, where the originals are located, and how some of us might be able to buy copies from the holder, be that an archive or a private individual.
