I can find no references to a Ju 87 unit at such a location. Perhaps the name is misspelled?

An airdrome was (and is, in 2003) located 12 km East of Cherbourg during WWII. The name of this place is "Maupertus sur Mer".

I have been advised by LdZ IV that the airfield in question is in fact Cherbourg-Maupertus, also known as Cherbourg-Théville. Using Cherbourg as a key-word I have searched our unit files and have come up with the following units at Cherbourg with Ju 87s:

I./StG 2
moved to Cherbourg (late Jul or early Aug 40);
relocated from Cherbourg to St. Malo /Brittany (early Aug 40);

I./StG 51
based at Cherbourg, attacked convoy Jumbo near Plymouth without effect (1 Jul 40);
sent 37 a/c to attack Portland harbor, sunk Foyle Bank (5,582 tons) and set a tanker on fire (4 Jul 40);
Gruppe redesignated as II./StG 1 (9 Jul 40).

Stab/StG 77
Geschwader concentrated in Caen - Cherbourg area under VIII. Fl.Korps for attacks on Channel convoys and ports in S England (toward end of Jun 40).

I./StG 77
based at Cherbourg-Théville, attacked a convoy off Portland, damaged 7,085 ton freighter Empire Daffodil (9 Jul 40);
from Cherbourg-Théville, attacked a convoy off the Isle of Wight and sunk two small ships (21 Jul 40);
bombed convoy Bacon in Weymouth Bay (27 Jul 40);
relocated to Maltot (8 km SW of Caen) (25-30 Jul 40);
sent temporarily to Paris-Le Bourget, then went to Cherbourg-Théville (Jan 41);
transferred from Théville to Arad /NW Romania to support Operation Marita, the invasion of the Balkans (31 Mar 41)

Therefore no main-line Ju 87 unit was based there in August 41. However, there was likely an Ergänzungs unit in the area but I can't check it out since my copy of Carlsen and Meyer Vol. 2 is in storage a thousand miles away! Sorry!
