German D9 found

Hi forum,
maybe there is already a thread about this theme, maybe i overread that, sorry if!
A german friend emailed me that the germans found the wreck of a 190-D9 near the town Elbmarsch which must be in the Lauenburg area. The pilot was identified as Lt. Werner Schramm. They also found a parachute with the mark Chr. Schramm. Schramm was from JG26 and killed on April 29, 45.
Ok, that´s not my problem. I have here the book of Axel Urbanke, MIT FW190 D-9 IM EINSATZ. Well, it is in german language and i am not very good in reading german. But my grandfather (ex-german stuka pilot) translated me a few lines. On page 398 there is a picture of Schramm and in the text is mentioned that Schramms body was identified 1989. He was laying in the grave near Wittenberge and that a Corporal Johannes Schlimper (6./26) is missed until now.
What is now the truth? Is Schramm identified for 100% or was it Schlimper with Schramm´s his parachute?
Thanks in advance for answers.
Ernesto

13 June - 8/KG 26 - Ju 88 A-17 (# 550907)torpedo attack off Seine Estuary
13 June - 8/KG 26 - Ju 88 A-17 (# 301162)torpedo attack off Seine Estuary
13 June - 9/KG 77 - Ju 88 A-17 (# 550057) Pl.Q. 15W/2180-1170 (Cherbourg-Portsmouth)
14 June - 1/KG 77 - Ju 88 A-17 (# 822638) Channel
14 June - 9/KG 77 - Ju 88 A-17 (# 801587) N Seine Estuary
Hope these details can help you.

Hi again BR...
Thanks for the various loss reports of KG26/KG77 actions around the period in question. If only we could tie one of these reports down to the sinking of HMS Boadicea!
Thanks anyway my friend...

G. Handrick downgraded ??
Sun Dec 28 11:05:37 2003
211.72.203.65
A strange matter caught my attention:
Handrick was replaced by Galland in JG26 by mid-40, in a process so called of "new breed" in the JGs by Goring.
Latter on he was designated to III/JG52. It looks strange, a famous character(Olympics, Spain,...), being given a Group, after being Geschwader Kommodore (??)
Any comments ??

Dario

Handrick really Kommodore or i.V.?
Tue Dec 30 01:06:05 2003

Hi!
My best guess regarding this matter is that Handrick was leading the JG 26 in Vertretung until a new Kommodore was in place. He then would move on to JG 52 and eventually lead the JG 5 as a Kommodore from mid 1942.
At the time Handrick was a Major, while Galland was an Oberstleutnant.
I have found that a lot of the published unit histories, not to mention internet sites, tend to put in people in functions that they were not really in, as the Luftwaffe had a lot of people functioning in the positions of Geschwaderkommodore, Gruppenkommandeur or Staffelkapitäne, sometimes for quite a long time until a proper replacement was at hand.
The problem has of course been that the sources has not been readily available.
If You are really interested in this matter, and Handrick's career especially, I would suggest the following course of action:
Request the 'Militärische Werdegang' of Gotthard Handrick from ZNS in Aachen
Check original 'Namentliche Verlustemeldungen', loss records, for Stab JG 26 in the period. The signature will tell You if Handrick was an appointed Kommodore or in Vertretung or an officer mdWdGA.
Combining these two sources, you will be able to draw a better conclusion.

Andreas
