Hellow everybody,
Are there any loss lists on the web? I know JG54 LL and t Wood's site.
My special interest for LW Bomber and Recon units of Eastern Front. Please, give me some web-links, if such are existing, of course!
/Sorry for my poor English/
Best regards,
MIB

Further details sought on Orlowski's victories on 2.9.45

In the exhaustive article regarding the history of Fw 190F-8 WNr 931862 posted here, there is mention made of the 404 Sqn Beaufighter Mk X and 65 Sqn Mustang III that were downed by Uffz. Orlowski before he himself was forced to bail out. Questions:
- Are the serials of these two aircraft known?
- Is the full code of the Mustang known (YT- is the squadron code)
- Are marking details available (code letter colors, etc)?
- Are there further details to be found anywhere regarding the RAF and RCAF aircrew who perished in these crashes?
Thanks very much in advance for any assistance-
Lynn

Don't know if others here are aware of this resource, but the Commonwealth War Graves Commission has an amazing website at http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/search.aspx . Still in need of details of the aircraft involved, however...thanks!

No.404 Sqn Losses 9th Feb

Hi Lynn,
The No.404 Sqn ORB records:
11 Beaufighters of 404 Sqn, 11 of 455 Sqn, 9 of 144 Sqn, 1 of 489 Sqn, 12 Mustangs of 65 Sqn and 2 ASR Warwicks took off from Dallachy for a strike in Ford Fjord. They found a German naval force of 3 escort vessels in the middle of the fjord and anchored along the sides of the fjord were 1 Narvik class destroyer 4 minesweepers, 1 deep sea tug and 3 other vessels. The flight circled twice to get into suitable position and attacked. As the flight attacked they were jumped by 10 to 12 Fw190s and 6 aircraft of the squadron were shot down by either fighters or flak.
6 aircraft of No.404 Sqn failed to return. The Mustang was HB836.
Regards
Ross

That's one big piece of the puzzle complete (the Mustang serial). Are photos of 404 Squadron Beaus to be found in any publications, to your knowledge?
Thanks again for the help!
