I am searching for detailed accounts, from the German perspective, of the actions involving the 5th FJ Division vs. the US 4th Armored during the Battle fo the Bulge. Contacts with German vets of the 5FJ would be highly valued (I have numerous interviews logged with 4th AD veterans).

If you know of a German veteran of the division, or have detailed information about the division you would like to share, please contact me:

Hello Don, I was asked to notify you on a book I just purchased from Barnes and Nobles Bookstore If you send me an email, I can send you the proper info. The book I just bought is called Battle of the Bulge-southern sector, and is by an author named roland-I dont remember his last name. Anyway, this book has two chapters on the fighting that the 5th Fchjgr did in The Bulge. This book is Vol 1 od 2, and is from the German perspective with intervies etc-from some German soldiers. I would give you all the info here but I do not have my book with me..

Try the following document, part of the Foreign Military Studies series produced by the US Army after the Second World War. These are held by the National Archives in both English translations and German originals. They should be able to provide microfiche copies by mail (get both the translation and the German copy as the sketch maps are often only included with the original).

Monograph B-023, 5th Parachute Division (December 1, 1944 - January 12, 1945) by Generalmajor Ludwig Heilmann, 60 pp.
