Bf110 G-4, W Nr. 730301 surrendered at Grove, Denmark as D5+RL of I/NJG 3
Fitted with Fu220 with angled aerials. Allocated Air Min 34. Built by Gotha Waffen Fabrik (GWF) Traditionally listed as an /R6 but more likely a GWF series production /R8. As George Hopp says, this had the weapons holes more rounded and lower to the rear than on some retrofits. Probably easier to cut square holes at conversion facilities.
Canopy had defensive MG81Z hole but can’t remember if a mount was fitted at the time.

Unfortunately, they let me into the completely closed hangar at dusk and I only had a box brownie with me so was unable to get printable pictures at that time – I wasted a film just in case but no luck. Most interior was gutted other than the instrument panel and no weapons, but schrage musik canopy holes in place.

I have never seen this machine pictured as originally marked. The only known photos are taken at Air Shows at Biggin Hill, in bits at St Athan or at the RAF Museum, the former two sites with the machine already long in very dark and spurious markings as +OL.

Not to be confused with G-4, D5+DK, Air Min 30 also built by GWF and from the same Grove location. Traditionally listed as an /R3, but more likely a GWF series production /R6. This Fug202 & 220 equipped aircraft (no schrage musik but MG81Z) was the one exhibited at the main post war exhibition at Farnborough. This aircraft was photographed at Farnborough in British markings with the original German markings skilfully oversprayed and partially re-mottled by German ground crew in German paints probably prior to removal from Grove. A photo even exists of the AM 30 being applied. Pictures appeared in the Aero Publishers Series No.16; Profile No 207 - 110 Night Fighters by Alfred Price etc. Typical References for the Farnborough Photo Series :-

US National Archives 18-WP-198077 & 198081 (latter best)
MOD (PE) RAE Farnborough 170119 ( Shows 110 centre with Ju88 background, plus noses & tails of other aircraft around probably taken from a hangar roof)

Some of the mixture of US and UK official photos are also available from the UK Imperial War Museum archives.
