Here are some notable dates (from "German Secret Flight Test Centres to 1945"):

- Nov 29, 1916: Letter from the War Ministry in Berlin proposing the construction of "comprehensive aeronautical installations on the south shore of the Müritzsee"

- Aug 29, 1918: Inspection and inauguration by Grand Duke von Mecklenburg-Schwerin (the "official" establishment date)

- Nov 11, 1918: Armistice. Installations and railway dismantled, operations closed down.

- mid 1920's: Secret testing of a variety of aircraft, engines, propellers, etc.

- 1928: Albatros Flugzeugwerke rent the airfield. Facilities expanded, lots of testing.

- 1933: Full-scale expansion.
