Luftwaffen-Lazarett 7/XVII, formerly Luftwaffen-Laz. Bukarest. It probably moved to North Italy in September 1944.

Steve,
may you tell me when Luftwaffen-Laz. Bukarest changed its name to Lw.-Lazarett 7/XVII? Did it remain based at Bukarest until it moved to Italy?
Thank for your help

Lw.-Lazarett Bukarest (FpN L 42013) was formed spring 1941. On 18.07.41 it was located in Bucharest under Deutsches Luftwaffenmission Rumänien (DLM). In October 1943 it was re-designated Lw.-Lazarett 7/XVII (FpN L 42013) in Bucharest. When Romania changed sides on 23.08.44, Lw.-Laz. 7/XVII was still in Bucharest and was overrun in the chaos of the following week as German forces attempted to flee the country. Twelve years later (1956) the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz was still listing 33+ missing for Lw.-Laz. 7/XVII in August 1944 in Romania. Its Feldpost number was finally deleted on 03.04.45, but I suspect that it was never rebuilt after the evacuation of Romania where, evidently, it lost most of its personnel.

Lw.-Lazarett 7/XVII did NOT transfer to Italy as I stated yesterday. I failed to check my sources and confused this hospital with another one. My apologizes.
