Can someone help me with this as my Luftwaffe identification reference stuff is useless! What group or unit is Fl. E.A. 16 ? A flight group, not a bomber group? What did they fly? Where were they etc etc? If anyone can guide me in the right direction?

Fliegerersatzabteilung.

These were the early forerunner of the Fliegerausbildungs-Rgt., which then in turn morphed into the Fliegerregiment. They all did the same thing: provided basic training to recruits.

Fl.Ers.Abt. 16 was located in the city of Schleswig in Schleswig-Holstein. On 1 April 1939 it was renamed Fliegerausbildungs-Rgt. 16.
