Hi to all experts of Luftwaffe Documents!
Have a very difficult question!
How rare and expensive are "LUFTFAHRT RINGBUCHORDNER" from 1937 in 5 Vol.
These Documents were owned by the RLM, and were only for "Dienstgebrauch".
Each Vol. has more than 1000 pages and many pictures, calculations and drawings!
Hope somebody can help me, itīs really important!
Greatings from Vienna,
Simon Schatz

Dear Simon,
Using Altavista, the books are aviation ring binder files intended for official use. That is all one can say about them. They could be about anything. It is possible that they are full of arcane graphs that would be of no interest to most people. I've run across lots of documents that were way too dull for anyone to have an interest in. So, without a decent description, at this point they are worthless or, at best, a grabbag prize.

Richard

I disagree with Richard. The Ringbuch der Luftfahrttechnik was a secret periodical publication meant for the top technical personal of the German aircraft industry. It consisted of articles whose character was secret indeed as it compiled detailed information on latest developments which should not be open to foreigners . I came across it only once (in the Deutsche Museum). It has to be checked, however, up until when the articles were included and inhowfar older articles were destroyed. The later the better. Technical secrets of the late thirties were a commonplace in the 1940ies. Nevertheless, although it is a printed document I would consider the Ringbuch valuable.

Dear Lutz,
My only comment was that the information provided was, on its face, inadequate to know what the binders were all about. I note that you describe something with a slightly different title. Are you sure this is the volume series originally described?
Assuming they are one and the same, can you provide a greater description of the likely contents? Would data be provided about specific aircraft developments at the different manufacturers or was this more a book of technical developments not specifically associated with specific aircraft? For instance, would it have articles on, say, new methodology in the testing of aircraft landing gear durability? This sort of information gets pretty esoteric and dry. In essence, were these akin to technical journals?
Regards,
Richard
