Andreas,

During the research for material on the Banff/Dallachy Strike Wing I was given access to the Late Sir Max Aitken's Log book etc., at the IWM, London. In one
transcript he mentions that when he flew over to Oslo in late May 1945 he was taken to one of the JG 5 airfields which held the former fighter pilots behind wire. He
had a three course meal with a few Luftwaffe airmen and during coffee was shown their records that they had on these strike wings, crew photograhs, awards,
commanding officers, who was the best strike leader, losses, who flew which aircraft, squadron's etc., all are discribe as being in leather bound book's (one for each
squadron based at Banff/Dallachy)
Later during an interview with Sir Chistopher Foxley-Norris (former OC 143 Sqdn) I asked if he recalled seeing these or had heard about them was yes, he recalled
being shown the losses for JG. 5 list during there brief conflict with the strike wing together with photographs of each pilot! Asking what happened to them he said they
were taken away by the British Airbourne Brigade!

I have made inquires in Aldershot, Hants but they too have disappeared.

Just thought I'd share this with you. (Sorry you can not e-mail there is a problem at present)

Thanks in advance

Andy Bird
