The documentaion behind how the JG's were scored for the various KC awards is well known, but how (or even was??) it done for the SG's... particularly after they had
recived aircraft more capable than the stuka?

Thanks for the help gentlemen...

Mainly for the amount of ground victories, like trucks, locomotives, troops concentration points, guns... plus number of flights (like bomber personel). Some of them were also able to score aerial victories, like Robert Kowalewski, Egon Albrecht or Josef Menapace. When they got planes like Fw-190 obviously they had opportunity to also score or increase their aerial victories. The Brazilian pilot Egon Albrech got his Knight Cross in the Russian front for his oustanding service as Zestörer pilot, an impressive listing of ground hits. Latter went to Germany to fly the Me-110 on Reich defense where got some 4-engined bombers. He died in a Me-109 G from JG 76 in France.
