This webpage is a listing of websites with loss lists. It is noted as being incomplete, but is a nice reference, just the same. The webpage address is:

Hi All,
Are the Luftwaffe Quartermaster Generals Loss Returns (ObdL Genst. Gen. Qu.6 Abt (1c)) re-produced anywhere on the internet? If so what is the URL and if not where can I obtain them and what sort of price is it for a copy?
Regards

Hi.
One of the reasons I haven't been heard of on this board and others the last year..... takes a bit of time to set up new SQL servers, a new site and get it to behave right. Not to mention entering the data!
The data from the reports, with additional information will be available on a new site opening Q1/2004
It will be available to researchers for a modest members fee, approx USD 45 or Euro 36 for one year membership, providing the member signs a 'EULA' for the use of the data.

From www.webopedia.com:
EULA - Short for End-User License Agreement, the type of license used for most software. An EULA is a legal contract between the manufacturer and/or the author and the end user of an application. The EULA details how the software can and cannot be used and any restrictions that the manufacturer imposes (e.g., most EULA’s of proprietary software prohibit the user from sharing the software with anyone else).

EULA - Generic and specific definitions

Dear Leon,
Thank you for the generic explanation. I would, however, be interested to hear from Andreas as to what restrictions he plans to place upon the use of this information.
I'm somewhat torn between the idea of there being a CD offered for sale and Andreas' proposed website. A website approach does allow for updating, which is not so easily done with a CD. However, as CD's, intrinisically, are very cheap, it would seem to me that updates could be offered periodically at a nominal price.
It is also unclear as to how this would differ compared to what Tony Wood is providing gratus.

Richard

Hi.
The only restrictions I will have is that the user will use the information from the site for his own work, not give the login information to others and not publish work based on the information taken from the site without acknowledging the source.
A membership fee in the area I mentioned was merely a based on my expenses, and a modest number of members, 25 or so....
Basic math will allow You to see that more members will reduce this drastically.
The only reason I will charge a membership fee, is that I do have expenses connected to this. Rent of SQL server space, domain registration etc
My goal is a break-even project, so a membership number of for example 100 persons will reduce the membership fee to a quarter of what I said in the first post.
Also - as You said, my site will have at least one advantage over a commercial CD production:
Instant updating!
It will be possible for all members to send information to the database via a review board. Entry form online, data updated as soon as it is reviewed.
Members in the review board will be able to enter data directly, and thus their work will be instantly available.
Scalaebility
It will be possible to extend the data to cover more than just loss records. Currently crew career data will be possible to enter, along with claims and confirmed victories. The system wil also probably be the largest database for Luftwaffe aircraft available today, with possibility to add basic data like WNr, Stkz, Production plant, Date taken over by Luftwaffe etc etc etc
The beauty of it, if I may use that expression, is that it can be used as basis for queries of all sorts, cross-referencing data from the different tables into whatever one would like to see, for example statistic data for losses from a given unit or front area or Luftflotte during a special campaign.
I am not trying to make money on this project, as it will be used for my own research also!
