Hi, all.

K.G.200 did definitely use captured foreign aircraft in active duty.

One example is the following loss recorded on 16 March 1945, in document marked Genst.Gen.Qu.6.Abt.Nr. 300/45 g.Kdos (IC):

The loss occured on March 3. 1945, no reason or location are given (possibly more details in the K.G. 200 book, which I do not have).

The aircraft was a B-17, noted with WNr. 210390.

The following crew were listed as MIA:

Rank Last name, First name Crew function
Fhr. Schenderlein, Helmut Flugzeugführer (Pilot)
Uffz. Hoff, Werner Flugzeugführer (Pilot)
Oblt. Beudel, ? Beobachter (Observer, crew chief)
Fw. Helmbach, Willi Bordfunker (Radio operator)
Ofw. Buch, Karl Bordwart
Uffz. Weber, Alfred Bordwart
Gefr. Mehl, Karl-Heinz Bordschütze (Gunner)
Fw. Rätzer, Walter Bordschütze (Gunner)
Uffz. Lott, Wilhelm Bordschütze (Gunner)
Uffz. Böttcher, Kurt Bordschütze (Gunner)
Fw. Adam, Herbert A ???

A fairly complete B-17 crew...

This flight was booked as operational.

Andreas Brekken

Gentlemen
I agree with the previous message up the WNr. of the aircraft as I have checked seveal sources(P.Stahl'book, Freeman's books & Baugher's web site) looking for the USAAF tail number or a Boeing number. I have not found a number for a B-17. Was this a Luftwaffe issued number or Dornier issued number for the clandistine D-200? and if known what was the original tail number ?Please advise.

Could someone verify the fate of the B-17G s/n 43-39412 ? I think it might be this plane that is referred to in the document mentionned above.

As far as i know, it was the USAAF s/n that was used by the Luftwaffe. My take is that in this specific case the tail was too much damaged to make up the serial/number. So thy used whatever number they could find on the plane, i.e. the constructor number. Indeed the constructor number 10390 matchs the B-17G s/n 43-39412.

Olivier

Checked it in Freeman B-17 story, it doesn't match, it's a dead end. I'll do some research, and see what i could find.

I found some informations, it seems that this aircraft was shot down by a Mosquito and crashed in France near Luvigny, after taking off from the Stuttgart-Euchterdingen airfield.

I'm trying to get in touch with people who may know more about it.
