With Prien et. al.'s new book series publishing detailed victory lists for all single-engine day figther units and Tony Wood doing some of the same things on the internet, does anyone know of any effort being made to publish the Zerstroyer victory claims for the period 1939-40? John Vasco had some of this material in his excellent book Zerstroyer, but only bits and pieces. Any comprehensive victory listing planned for the Bf-110 during 39-40 that anyone knows about?

German researcher Marius Emmerling is working on a history of Lw operations in Poland. He has already published some articles on the subject. AFAIK there were some problems with ZG1 claims as the relative of airman who kept the records was not willing to cooperate. Jerzy Cynk's book covering Polish fighter arm in 1939 does only list numbers by crews with no specific details.

your information about Prien's new book (books?) sounds pretty thrilling to me. But I've been somewhat out of the Luftwaffe loop. Could you be so kind as to give me some titles, sources? For Prien's books and the Tony Wood mateials? Thanks.

In my latest file to Mike Holm of the latest Prien info I also made an effort to include what Zerstorer claims I could find in Chris Shores 'Fledgling Eagles', as well as Mr. Vasco's book. File has not been posted as of yet, assuming Michael received it.

I may prepare draft list for Polish Campaign based on Polish books, though I'm very reluctant to it. Certainly it's better than nothing but bad info can be even worser. What do you think?

add a column to my claims file so that I can quote a source for a claim. I think as long as you do that you'll be covered. Mistakes can always be corrected as new info becomes available. Actually I was quite surprised to note some very significant differences in claims as listed in the new Prien series (obviously due to having Win Bock on board) and as originally listed in Prien's various unit histories.

I'm curious did the six month process that validated a victory for a Luftwaffe pilot derail at all in the last months of the war?
Asked another way, the Luftwaffe Claim lists kept giving "credit" to Luftwaffe pilots throughout the war, but I'm wondering that as the war neared its conclusion, was the 6 month process still followed?

Although I don't have proof, reading Don Caldwell's JG 26 War Diaries, I have the impresion that there were few, if any, confirmed victories after approximately October 1944.
I believe this topic was discussed briefly on this forum before.
My contention is that Hartmann did not have 352 victories. He had 'x' confirmed kills and 'y' unconfirmed kills.
Just like Roger maris and his 62* home runs.

Don't know if this will help, or confuse you but I have been putting together the victory list of Franz Eisenach a possible distant relative of mine with 129 victories on the Eastern Front. He had two victories on 14 December 44, four on 15 December 44, two on 23 December 44, one each on 26 & 29 December 44, three on 6 Jan. 44, one on 21 Feb. 45, two on 23 Feb. 45, three on 5 March 45, one on 6 March 45, and his last two on 19 march 45. All less than six months. SML

You're just adding to the confusion, Sean....

....unless you have proof of confirmation of your 1945 claims (i.e., the confirmation document numbers that appeared on the RLM "flimsies" given the pilots via their units). The "six-month requirement" was no rule, but was a product of bureaucratic turgidity. But from all the evidence known (to me), no claim filed after November 1944 was ever confirmed, and the system broke down entirely at the end of January 1945. This subject has been covered here before at greater length.
