I've never gone onto a message board to ask for help before, but I figured I might give this one a shot. I'm looking for any information I can find on my grandfather, who was MIA in 1944 and later his status changed to Deceased by my grandmother. All I know about him is that his name is Teodor Kursthorst and he was a Lt. in the Anit-Aircraft Unit, and he was born in East Germany. If anyone can provide names of organizations I can contact or anything to get me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Kristina,
Have you tried the German war memorial website? You can find out about it under the forum "Archives on the World Wide Web" under the topic title "German war memorial website".
Since you are a relative, the Deutsche Dienstelle, also known by the acronym WASt, which stood for "Wehrmachtsauskunftstelle fur Kriegeverluste und Kriegsgefangene" should be able to help you, assuming any records exist. You can find contact information under the "Archives in Germany: General Information" forum under the topic "Wehrmachtsauskunftstelle fur Kriegeverluste und Kriegsgefangene (WASt)".
Finally, I recently reviewed several websites in the "Useful Websites" forum that deal with Flak units. Perhaps one of the webmasters might be able to give you further leads. Just look at anything that was posted in the last week. I'm afraid you'll have to look at each of the 5 forums of this name, as we found it necessary to sub-divide the forum because the number of topics was getting to large for a single forum.
Regards,
Richard
