Interesting but different books.
Part one is more or less a pictorial on Experten, with attention to a/c, uniforms and equipment (the latter two in color).
Part two concentrates on uniforms, decorations and equipment.
Not the books to begin a collection, but certainly a nice addition to a growing one.

Thomas,
This was Awarded to recognise a degree of Bravery or Service
above that of the Iron Cross 1st Class but not sufficient to
Warrant the Knights Cross. Aircrew could be awarded this for
achieving 140 War flights(K.G.51). There is a Book called
Die Traeger Des Deutschen Kreuzes in Gold der Luftwaffe 1941 - 1945 by Veit Scherzer(ISBN3 - 925480)
Hope that this is of some interest.

The book you are looking for is:
Scheibert, Horst, "Die Träger der Ehrenblatt-Spange des Heeres und der Waffen-SS, Die Träger der Ehrentafel-Spange der Kriegsmarine, Die Inhaber des Ehrenpokals für besondere Leistung im Luftkrieg" by Horst Schiebert; Friedberg, 1986).
I think I obtained my copy through Christian Schmidt but could also search the internet.

Dear Marcel,
Many thanks for your offer, I only have one Hptm Rudolf Altendorf who was with NJG 3,4 & 5 and would have received it about August/September 1944 I think.
Thanks,
John.

It appears that Rudolf Altendorf wasn't awarded the DK in Gold, since his name does not appear in "Die Träger des Deutschen Kreuzes in Gold der Luftwaffe 1941-1945" by Veit Scherzer. (FYI, there were 32 members of NJG 3, 4 & 5 who did receive the award.)

Hello Leon,
According to Gebhard Aders book, "The history of the German Night Fighter Force 1917-1945" he is listed down as having received one, I understand that the rough rule was 20 kills for a DK, Altendorf would have had a score of 20 at about August September 1944. I wounder which book is correct?

Hello;
I have recently acquired either an original or very good quality copy of a Luftwaffe Honor Goblet Award Document present to Oberleutnant der Flieger 4./ Jagdgeschwader 27 Georg Hausleitner. Dated 30.01.1944.
Does anyone know anything about Herr Hausleitner? Does a photo of him exist? His aircraft type?
The Göring signature is of course a facsimile.
But the signature for the General Der Flieger is in pencil and it appears to be 4 letters, the second letter is "ö", but it might be something like Görn or Sörn. Hard to tell.
Can anyone tell me who the General Der Flieger might have been who would have signed this document? If we can I.D. him any photos or other info on him is appreciated.
Thanks to anyone who can help me.
Cheers;
Russ

Löhr?

Hi,
my first thought was that it could be Löhr who signed the document, but I am not sure, due to the date.
Löhr commanded Luftflotte 4 for a period of time, but I do not have dates etc, and I do not have the time to look it up for You.
Try browsing through the pages at: www.ww2.dk
and/or a general search on the net.

Andreas

According to: "Die Inhaber des Ehrenpohkals für Besondere Leistung im Luftkrieg" by Horst Schiebert (ISBN 307909-0283-7) there is no mention of such a person! It could be that the book is wrong. It is probably compiled from secondary sources. Beyond that I can't help you. Sorry!

Hi, can you inform me about the exact measures (in cms) of the oak leaves with swords and diamonds - and how many pieces of diamonds were worked in there? Would be great, if someone also would know the size/s(in mm) of the diamonds. Thanks a lot in advance for your reply, Horst

Hi,
According the book "A COLLECTOR´S GUIDE TO THIRD REICH MILITARIA" (Hippocrene Books, New York, USA, 4th print, 1994) by Robin LUMSDEN, the measure of a Diamonds cluster is the following:
The Knight´s Cross size: 48mmX 48mm
Oakleaves diameter: 20mm
Swords lenght: 24mm the right sword is over the left in an angle of 40º.
Diamonds: each cluster was handmade (there aren´t two identical clusters) but each one carried something between 45-50 diamonds.
Hope it helps you. You can fins more info at

Douglas.
