Knight's Cross Holder Listings at Axis Biographical Researc
Sun Nov 19 08:12:29 2000
Knight's Cross Holder Listings, including Luftwaffe, Heer, Kriegsmarine, Waffen-SS, Volkssturm may now be accessed at Axis Biographical Research ( http://www.geocities.com/~orion47/ ). It's still very much in the formative stages, but we will eventually have all of them listed, complete with dates/places of birth/death, assignments at time of award, promotion dates, and other awards received (DKiG, EBS, NKS, EK I/II, etc.).
Best wishes,
Mike Miller/ABR

Looking for update of the 'Su-Sz' chapter (Walter Sumpf)
Mon Nov 20 02:30:48 2000
I checked your web-site for details on Knight's Cross winner Walter Sumpf (awarded on 12-3-45), pilot in I./KG 100. When is the update scheduled? Do you have any
specifics on this LW officer?

Updated daily but slowly

I do not have detailed info. on that officer at this time. I'm adding new names daily, currently working on the "B" sections (as I accidentally deleted four pages last night).
Ken McCanliss at KMcCanliss@webtv.net should have the basic details (dates of birth, other award dates, etc.) on any Luftwaffe officer.
Best wishes,

I visited this site. It is very ambitious, but very slim on entries. It covers pretty much a wide selection within the German government and military organizations. I could get nothing to come up on the Knight's Cross holder listings. Since work was being done on the "B's", I tried "Ba". Something was happening, but, in the end, when the entries were finished, none actually appeared. There may be some sort of glitch or simply this area is incompatible with Netscape.
Regards,
Richard

It is Netscape compatible- just checked, using Netscape. Yes, it's very slim in certain areas, but that's inevitable considering the enormity of the task at hand and the fact
that those of us working on the site are only able to do so for a small portion of each day (due to jobs, families, etc.). Don't mean to sound defensive, but considering that
the site has been online for just one and a half years and- I'm reasonably certain- contains more biographical information than any other site on the subject, I think I should
be granted a little leeway on the incompleteness of many sections.

I went back and rechecked. I have Netscape 4.75, an early version. Perhaps I need to move up in the world a bit. Entries still failed to come up. Anyway, I went to Microsoft Internet Explorer and there definitely were the Knight's Cross entries - and very nicely done.
What Michael has taken upon himself is a very worthy effort. I'm sorry if I sounded a bit harsh in my note. I very much know about the lack of hours in the day, as the LWAG site requires much attending to.
Regards,
Richard
