Does anybody knows sth. about the Hansa Luftbild GmbH?
This Company was founded as a daughter company of the Lufthansa in the 30ies. Their task was to take secret fotos of possible targets for the Luftwaffe over England, Russia etc. by zivilan aircrafts equped with cameras. The former chairman was Werner Rohwehl better known as CO of Aufkl.Gr. Ob. d. Lw.!
Agerman friend of mine told me that after the war the picture archive were transferred to America. Mainly these of Russia were unsed for the cold war.
Does anyone knows the fate of this archiv? Are these fotos still in the Pentagon archives?
Thanks in advance.
Alex

Dear Alexander,
I have seen your question at 12 O'Clock High and also here. I have answered the question already at September 11th, 2000 in "Archives in Germany" in the subject "What became of the LW Photo Recon. Photos of the "Archive der Fliegerfilm", but nobody seems to have recognized the value of this entry. Is it drowned in the mass of information at this site? Or is it not possible to retrieve the wanted information by the user? Please Alexander answer this question, because we have to learn from each other mistakes and we all have to help Richard in building this site in a workable condition for now and in the future! I think this is one of the first times that someone is asking a question at this site, when the answer is already given in one of the entries. Is this a first sign of "the end of the beginning" or from "the beginning of the end"?

Actually, the key words in Alex's message were "Rohwehl" and "Hansa Luftbild", which did not appear in the entries regarding "Archiv der Fliegerfilm" and Alex never mentioned "Archiv der Fliegerfilm", so he could not have found what he was looking for. If the Archiv der Fliegerfilm was a product of this Hansa Luftbild, then this tie-in has to be properly made or Alex or any other researcher can search all day for the information and not find it.
In addition, the search engine will only look at the first 300 characters in a message. This includes the title as well as the message, plus all the spaces, too. Thus, if the key word is beyond this, it will be missed, which thus behooves us to get the key words in early.
Having said that, the words "Archiv der Fliegerfilm" also appear in the topic "What Became of the Stabia OKH Print Library?". I counted characters and spaces and the 300th entry ends with the word "that", falling short of "Fliegerfilm der Archive" just a few words further on.
I do my best to organize the messages under the best topic title. Obviously, many of these are transfers from 12 O'clock High! and may tend to ramble before getting to a key word or words, thus missing the 300 character search cut-off, as happened above.
Regards,
Richard

Jaap,
I don't think that any fotos of Hansa Luftbild GmbH wer related with the Archiv der Fliegerfilm of mig 40ies. Well I could not excluded untill I 'll see thes fotos. So
that could not be a question which was aswered.
My question related with why could Hitler started a world war. And who was these people
who helped him in the background of the Luftwaffe. So one of them was Oberst Rohwehl and I belive he worked togehter with Admiral Canaris.
So that couldn't be a tie-in, but only a way
to put unusual topic of the Luftwaffe instead
of Bf 109 or fighter units of the Luftwaffe.
There are enough of these sites and I think
this site should be more profesional.
Thank you Richard for support.

Alex

Dear Alexander and Richard,
What I can read out of the question of Alexander is that he is interested in the location of the photo's taken by the Hansa Luftbild GmbH. We know that Rowehl was involved in this unit. Just like he was later in the Aufkl.Gr.Ob.d.Lw. The goal of this unit was to make reconnaissance pictures over Holland, Belgium, France, England etc, etc.
So the topic is reconnaissance photo's although you did not mention it in your text, Alex.
If you look into the contents of "What became of the LW Photo Reconnaissance Photos of the "Archive der Fliegerfilm" it is clear that the subject of all the entries is reconnaissance photo's and aerial photography. The answer to your question, I thought, is my entry of 11 September 2000. And if you do not believe it, it was better to ask for an example of one of the photo's.
I do not care if any of the photo's of Hansa Luftbild was related to the Archiv der Fliegerfilm or not. I was looking for reconnaissance photos taken before the war of targets in Holland and I have found them!
Finally I do not see and I do not want to see any relation between your remark about the Bf 109 or fighter units and the Luftwaffe Archives Group.
Richard, while looking at your answer about the properties of the search engine, I think it would be very helpful to have some words in the header of every entry that gives a idea about the contents of that entry. I cannot find the right english word for these kind of words. What do you think of it? It forces us to think about what we have written and makes searching easier.

Dear Alex and Jaap,
Well, I didn't take offense at Alex' remark. Actually, I wrote a long letter to him off-line (I was addressing his comment regarding the site being more professional), but I may have missed his intent. I think now that he is saying that we concentrate too much on fighters and fighter units, and not enough about subjects like the ones you have been discussing. However, I'm really grabbing what others have been saying or are willing to contribute. I've also been pretty broad in what sites I review. Take a look at the recent additions on flightgear and Fallschirmjager.
The words you are looking for are "key words". Yes, it could be done, but it just adds another layer of things I end up doing. I'd rather see UBB increase the number of characters searched rather than try to twist my way around this artificial limit. But, as long as it is there, use of key words at the start by folks who are creating messages for this site would be a good idea, or at least get them in your sentences early.

Richard

Richard,
you got right about my oppinion about the talk of fighter units.
So lets look at unusual topics of the Luftwaffe f.e. airfields in Nederland or recover and recognize parts of aircrafts.

Alex
