Either there was a lot of repainting going on or there were more than one +CK.
T9+CK (small T9) was illustrated in Reis “The Luftwaffe a Photographic Record” as at Paderborn, autumn 1944 and is captioned a P-51C. Natural metal with plain black outline crosses, small swastika and yellow undersides and tail. O.drab panel and canopy framing. The rear fuselage from the tail yellow to just in front of the opening portion of the canopy appears to be painted white above the horizontal line of the lower portion of the cross.
A similarly painted Russian fighter sits behind the P-51.
T9+CK (small white T9, black CK) has two illustrations in Modell Fan Nov 1977 (Flugzeuge section) as at Hannover-Wunsdorf in June/July 1944 as a P-51B. O.drab uppersurfaces listed (but possibly Grau-Grun 74 repairs) with yellow undersides and tail, yellow spinner, large black swastika and full normal crosses. It earlier appeared at Rechlin (1943?) with only the fin/rudder and spinner in yellow and the rest of the undersides in original grey, but still with full cross markings (illustrated in one of the Reis DK&R13 volumes).
T9+HK is probably the fully Natural Metal/Yellow machine I have seen but I am unable to turn up the reference.

Books by Obermaier, Held and Gundelach

Hi.
I'm chasing the following:
Gundelach, Karl, "Die deutsche Luftwaffe im Mittelmeer 1940-1945: Band I und II", Peter D. Lang, Frankfurt am Main, 1981, ISBN 3-8204-6641-X
Does anyone have this pair, or know where I can buy them? I have had a quick look on the Internet, but had no luck. If you are able to help me out with these books, please contact me offboard.
Also, does the following:
Held, Werner, & Obermaier, Ernst, "The Luftwaffe in the North African Campaign: A Photo Chronicle 1941-1943", Schiffer Publishing, Atglen, 1992 ISBN 0-88740-343-3
have any photos or information about FW 190s in North Africa?
PS - I am also interested in exchanging information with someone who has ORB material for RAF fighter units in Tunisia in November and December 1942 (especially 72 and 81 Squadron).
Cheers,
Andrew Arthy

Hi. does anyone know where I can find some good pictures of the civil He111C? In particular, where was the passenger door? I would like to build Roden's kit, but there doesn't seem to be one moulded on the kit.

A book which has excellent crystal clear pictures of commercial He 111s is "Das Buch Der Deutschenluftfahrttechnik" Bildband by Bruno Lange. It was published in the 1960s I think. I don't have more biblio data on hand, but it is a great book. Don't confuse the photo volume with the text-only volume.
I have their kit of the He 111E and I must say that it appears to be the best He 111 kit yet. It is marred by the poor joint between the flaps and the upper wing skin and the plastic is very weak thanks to over-filling with mineral or cellulose, but the detail is great!

Legión Cóndor books

In answer to Andy Fletcher and although I with delay inform you that I in Spanish have published two books on the Legion Condor:
· Legión Cóndor. Su historia 60 años después, Almena Ediciones, Madrid, 2000.
· La Legión Cóndor. Imágenes inéditas para su historia, Agualarga editores, Madrid, 2002.
This last is a graphic album in which I include almost 500 pictures, most of them unpublished.
Both are a contribution more in the study of that Great Unit.
I at the present time am preparing a third part, that will consist of the biographies of the main German combatants in Spain.
Pardon for my English wrong.

Blue 6

Hi Franek,
Thanx for your answer. Great help.
The Caldwell-book I was refering to was „JG 26 Photographic History“ published in 1994. Should have been more specific on this one. The picture of 175140 is on p. 143.
When looking at the publishing dates (Rodeike 1998, Caldwell War Diary 1999 and Walk Around 2000) I assume that Mr. Calldwell simply dug up some new evidence in the shape of the drawing you mention. So „blue 6“ it is. However I still wonder about the contrast between the blue and the black trim in some the b&w photos of this bird.
Just to make sure that I understood your post corectly: There is a pic in Don Caldwell‘s „JG 26 War Diary Vol. 2“ that shows the port side of W.Nr. 175140. Could you give me a „yes“ or „no“ on this one (It’s an expensive investment)?
Best regards
Stefan

Hi Sergio,
..I have a photo of Bigge in his Fw 190 A-5 or 6 'schwarze 2' at Evreux/ St. André (courtesy Holger Nauroth) & a couple of paragraphs about Bigge's exploits in a Fw 190 feature appearing in a forthcoming issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling (if it survives the editorial process, the photo that is..)... there is a 3 or 4 page account by Bigge himself of his nightfighting exploits with 2./JG 2 in Holger Nauroth's Jagdgeschwader 2 Bildchronik...

Was the Junkers 86 (D-AKOP) in the Lufthansa service sprayed a shade of pale grey or was it in bare metal? I know that this was a race aircraft but haven't seen any photos of this subject. Can anybody shed some light?

Hello, Philip,
please note that the Ju 86 D-AKOP was NOT operated by Lufthansa. This aircraft was owned by the Junkers Flugzeug- und Motorenwerke A.G. (JFM) and served as a personal transport for the chairman of the supervisory board (Aufsichtsrat) of JFM, Koppenberg.

I'm the publisher of the booklet. In every edition you find around seventy unpublished fotos (large format) in very good printing quality and three to four articles about special areas of the Luftwaffe. In the booklet are 8 pages in colour. The book is done by a team of twenty Luftwaffen-enthusiasts (don't like the word specialists). You find foto from all "areas" of the Luftwaffe, from "identified new emblems" over "portraits", "Pictures with a story", "tails" , "scenery fotos" and so on! A lot of stuff for historians and modellbuilding enthusiasts.

In the meantime, I have received e-mail from Axel notifying me of the magazine's release. He also mentioned that he has already sent my copy directly to me (as I am one of the 'team' members who edits this periodical, with photos included in this premiere issue).
