Johannes Gerffgen (?) ID No L07104
I'm trying to track down a Luftwaffe pilot who surrendered to 37 Squadron of the RAF with which my Father-in-Law was serving in North Africa circa 1942. He appears to have been the pilot of a single seater aircraft.
From his ID card (Kennkarte) his Christian name was Johannes and his surname appears to be Gerffgen or something similar. His Identity Number was L07104. He was born on 17 March 1920 in Loblauf, Zweibruecken. I understand that Johannes was subsequently transferred to the UK as a Prisoner of War but what became of him thereafter is unknown. I'd be grateful if anyone could assist please! Many thanks, in anticipation, Gerry |

Johannes Gerffgen (?)
Jaap,
Many thanks for checking this out, I really appreciate it. Its left me with a major question trying to figure out how someone serving with a flak unit in Kolonne could end up piloting a German aircraft in North Africa? Surely his ID document would have been changed to reflect that? Regards, Gerry |
