ref.map PQ 5951/14

Hello,

Could somebody tell me where the ref.map PQ 5951/14 is located (longitude and latitude) ? I think it's off Brest, in the Atlantic Ocean ... but I'm not sure.

From an other source the same geographic spot would be located Q 51521 (probably an other reference map system)

Please help me to see this thing clearly ...

Many thanks in advance

Pierre

Hi Voldemar.
You miss a letter it should be 25 ON or 25 OS. The first is between 59-54 N, 20-30 E, the second is 54-49N, 20-30E.
Row S is 2 dg up from the bottom column L is 26 dg E. 61 denotes a smaller area just to the E. If you can figureout the ON/OS problem I can figure out an exact pos. for you.

Hi
Three of them are in the North Sea and the last is in Holland. It is the old Luftwaffe Pl.Q. system.
Pl.Qu. 55284
2. Pl.Qu. 5323
3. Pl.Qu. 54713
4. Pl.Qu. 54771
3 and 4 are both just off the North West corner of Holland while 55284 is a bit further North and 5323 more or less covers the Zueder Zee inside Holland.

Voldemar: aren't you the guy for around Lvov?

Pl.Qu. 55, 54 and 53 are all in line, north to south, beginning just north of Vilnius/Lithuania to just southwest of Pinsk. Each sector is around 100 km wide.

You need to draw up your own map, Voldemar, just like I and a lot of others have done.

Hello Voldemar,

There are more locations given by these map grids, but assuming that you are interested in combats in Lvov area I would say that APPROXIMATE locations (possible errors caused by the small scale of the map etc.) appear to be as follows:

50192 - some 30 km NNW of Tarnopol
51524 - some 35 km WNW of Dubno
41622 - approx. 35 km SW of Luck
41629 - approx. 40 km SW of Luck
41262 - approx. 38 km SW of Luck

If you are looking forward more locations, please contact me off-board and I will try to help you.

Cheers,

Ota

Hi Marko.
There is one Tschaplinka (= Chaplynka or Chaplinka) to the North-West of the Crimea. You can have a view on a map at: http://www.encyclopediaofukraine.com...172&Obl=Crimea
I don't know, whether there are any other places of this name.
Hope this helps,
Robert
