The main source of primairy Luftwaffe documents in The Netherlands is:
Nederlands Instituut voor Oorlogsdocumentatie(NIOD). Herengracht 380, Amsterdam. The Netherlands. Phone: +31 20 5233800. Fax: +31 20 5233888. E-mail: info@oorlogsdoc.knaw.nl. URL: www.oorlogsdoc.knaw.nl. Opening times Monday till Friday from 9.00 till 17.00 hrs.

A recent visit gave me the possibility to look through archive file no.57. Title: Bevollmächtigter für die Bauwirtschaft. It contains information about all the building activities during WWII in the Netherlands by the Germans. An eye-opener!

In the local archive of the town of Bunschoten, temporary at Amersfoort Local Archive, I recently found a German notice to fishermen, to look out for an aircraft type
217 coded F8+and two more, which, I found out later, was of a staffel of KG 40 probably based at Soesterberg, the crew was still missing. In this, and other archives
of towns and villages around the IJsselmeer, is also information on the remains of dead airmen, which may give a clue on aircraft type.
Another source may be The Royal Netherlands Air Force Historical Section, Koningin Marialaan 17, ;s-Gravenhage, who have some good researchers on this subject.

Archives with aerial photographs.

In the Netherlands there are two institutions with a collection of aerial photographs. One is:
Topografische Dienst(Ordnance Survey)
Bendienplein 5
P.O.Box 115
7800 AC Emmen
The Netherlands

Phone : +31 591-696911
Fax : +31 591-696296
E-mail : info@tdn.nl
URL : www.tdn.nl
Their collection consists for almost 100% of photo's made by 106 Group RAF and No.34 Wing RAF. These photographs are made from Luftwaffe installations, like airfields, in the Netherlands.

The second institute with aerial photograph's is:
Landbouwuniversiteit Wageningen(Agricultural University)
Dept. Speciale Collecties
Gen. Foulkesweg 19
P.O.Box 9100
6700 HA Wageningen
The Netherlands
Phone : +31 317-482701
URL : www.agralin.nl/desktop/services/
Check "special collections".
They have a collection of aerial photo's made by No.39 Wing RAF. Also these photo's are of German installations in the Netherlands.
In both collections are only photo's made during 1943 till 1945.

From 12 O'clock High!:

Frontreperatur Betrieb 3/253
Sat Sep 30 13:22:11 2024

While searching in the files of the NIOD Amsterdam I came across a piece of paper from Luftgaukommando Holland about Bauvolumen for the third quarter of 1943. In this
paper Frontrep.Betr. 3/253 in Apeldoorn was mentioned and they should get Splitterschutz. Does anyone know what this unit was doing in Apeldoorn? Where does it
belong to? What were they repairing? I hope someone could help me in solving the questions about this unit.
