Have a look at Carpiquet airfield : very active during WW II and also afterwards. Military part (you have to come from the South) now "sold" to the Army (what a shame!) but both big historical hangars are still here. The other side (North, towards the sea) is now aéroport de Caen. About 15 years ago there was a Mystère II at the entrance of the airport. Bernay airfield, active during WW II too, is worth a visit. Have a look at Beaumont-le-Roger, JG 2's hideout. OVER the town (northwards I think) on the plateau the place of the old airfield is still here - but no airfield. You still can see the concrete foundations and the apron, they are in perfect shape (well, concrete...). Ask the local people for details.

Hello,

During our stay in Normandie last year we have visit "Musee de Bataille de Normandie" which you will find
in Bayeux. The museum is well sign posted and in there you will find a special department about the airwar during the battle. Lots to see, I really can recommend it!!
